In this 10-minute guided journey of breath, water, frequency, and percussion, Evan Ifekoya searches for an anchor for the body in times of uncertainty and grief, where bodies bear the weight of war and genocide: from Gaza and Congo to Sudan and beyond. In a world of ecological instability, displacement, ongoing conflict, and widespread trauma, this sonic gathering and meditation explores how we might hold pain and peace together, and reground ourselves in a world of safety, freedom, and wholeness. Evan Ifekoya is a Spirit-led artist and Strength and Embodiment practitioner who explores ancestry, belief, and belonging through practices of self-archiving and blackness in its unfolding abundance. Through their art, they hope to foster a deeper sense of connection and awareness, creating spaces where liberation and refuge are not just ideals but lived experiences. They established the collectively run and QTIBPOC led Black Obsidian Sound System (B.O.S.S.) in 2018. They were awarded the Paul Hamlyn bursary in 2021, the Kleinwort Hambros Emerging Artists Prize in 2019, and the Arts Foundation Award for Live Art sponsored by the Yoma Sasberg Estate in 2017. Their exhibitions, moving image works, and performances have been presented across the UK and internationally, most recently: Feel The Sound, Barbican London (2025), Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere, 60th Venice Bienniale (2024); The Ocean in the Forest II, Wanås Konst, Sculpture Park Sweden (2024); Traces of Ecstasy, Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond Virginia and Lagos Biennial (2024); Guest Artist Space, Lagos (2023); and Resonant Frequencies, Migros Museum, Zurich (2022). Upcoming projects include their new experimental documentary film MODUPE (2025), supported by BFI Docs Society and Elephant Trust.
