Telling Stories: SF Said
A talk for young readers
An illustration workshop for young storytellers

Friday 21 Aug, 1–3pm
It's the summer holidays and we're celebrating reading for pleasure! Ibraaz and Burley Fisher Books invite all young readers to join us for Telling Stories, a programme of events which focuses on storytelling in all its forms.
Ayesha Gamiet, illuminator and illustrator of The Clever Wife: A Kyrgyz Folktale, leads a workshop for aspiring young artists ages 10 and up. Using her knowledge of traditional Islamic illumination, she will introduce children to the fantastical flowers that adorn the pages of these rich and vivid manuscripts.
Children will use designs prepared by Ayesha to learn how to shade and bring flowers to life with pastels, coloured paper, and pencils. By the end of the session each student will have a colourful floral motif to take home.
How to take part:
Send an email to rsvp@burleyfisherbooks.com with the names of everyone interested and two or three sentences on why you’d like to join. Bookings will be open until 11th August or until the workshop is full. We will confirm your space by 14th August.
This event is free and open to all skill levels, but spaces are limited. Children participating in this workshop must be 10+ and accompanied by an adult, with no more than two young people per accompanying adult.
Doors open at 12.30pm; event starts at 1pm and ends at 3pm.
