Bani Abidi in conversation with Nirmal Puwar

Bani Abidi joins Nirmal Puwar in conversation around Memorial for Lost Words, Abidi’s anti-monument sound installation currently presented at Ibraaz. Created in memory of more than one million Indian soldiers who served in the First World War (1914–1918), the work interrogates how these soldiers are remembered—if at all—within imperial histories that reduce their lives to narratives of valour and loyalty to the British Crown.
