Bani Abidi is a Pakistani visual artist based in Neukölln, Berlin. Along with her studio practice of drawing, photography and film making she runs 'Books of Others', a project space and reading room. Abidi studied visual art at the National College of Arts in Lahore, and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited widely, with solo exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE; and Gropius Bau, Berlin, amongst others. Selected group exhibitions include Lahore Biennial, 2024; Asia Pacific Triennial, 2021; Seoul Mediacity Biennale, 2021; Edinburgh Art Festival, 2016; 8th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art, 2014; documenta (13), 2012; Kochi-Muziris Biennial, 2012 and 10th Lyon Biennale, 2009.
Nirmal Puwar is Professor at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Co-Director of the Centre for Feminist Research. Her landmark book Space Invaders: Race, Gender, Bodies Out of Place was revisited in a 20th anniversary issue of the European Journal of Cultural Studies (2025). She is co-editor of Live Methods, also revisited in an anniversary issue of The Sociological Review, and has co-edited 15 further collections, including Racist Tones. Her writing spans academic and experimental forms. Puwar is currently publishing Hear Here: Spatial Practices with Mattering Press, alongside a podcast series and website, and has led numerous methodologically innovative, research-led projects funded by the British Academy, AHRC, ESRC and GCRF.
