The majority of Palestinian land has been stolen by Israel. Some Palestinian farmers still have title to their property, and yet the land is controlled by Israeli authorities. In these cases (in the West Bank for example), Palestinian farmers are only allowed periodic access to their farmland through ‘Tansiq’ (تنسيق) – coordinated facilitation with the ‘Israeli District Coordination and Liaison Office’, known locally as the DCO.

Zahrat al Ghoula زهرة الغولة is a visual elegy combining still and moving image, sound, and text that shares the lived experiences of Ahmad, a Palestinian farmer from Sinjil (a town northeast of Ramallah) who is denied regular access to his lands. The stream-of-consciousness elegy translates Ahmad’s thoughts through Rouhana's lens and on-location audio recordings from Palestine.
