Whether it's the family WhatsApp group, a five-a-side football team, a choir, a union, or a work team, our lives are mapped across collective being in ways that ground the every day. But what makes a group a 'we', and what do we owe it?
This event takes Ibraaz’s current exhibition Rakyat Pasti Menang from Indonesian collective Taring Padi as a starting point for answering this question. In their 30 years of existence, Taring Padi’s determination to ‘agitate, educate, and organise’ has been structured around a set of principles that allow them to mobilise and exist as a ‘we’.
Through other examples of global, local and personal networks of collective being, this event explores how collective realities can be shaped and how we can understand our responsibility to the collectives we belong to.
Doors open at 5.30pm; event starts at 6pm and ends at 8pm.
