Gathering Breath
Breath, movement, and somatic practice
- Date and Time:
Sat 24 Oct & Sat 14 Nov, 2-5pm
- Location:
- Musalla
The Gathering Breath workshops are led by somatic facilitator Ayeḇainemi Abiẹyuwa Ése, founder of bodybased. Fostering an environment for collective nurture and body-based practice, these sessions centre breath as a means of becoming and engage with the body as a toolkit through which the road to liberation can be built.
Participants will be introduced in the Musalla. Following a short tour of Gabrielle Goliath’s Elegy, the group reconvenes in the Sofra before returning to the Musalla. Focusing on co-regulation, deep listening and quiet witnessing, the session closes with a final sharing circle. With attention held towards loss, grief, and eventual overcoming, these workshops invite individuals to consider the approaches through which we can think through systemic dismantling while enacting holistic and decolonized forms of repair.
These sessions explore, and may evoke, difficult emotions. There is no requirement to participate in every part of the session. Sessions are open and welcome to all.
This programme coincides with Gabrielle Goliath's exhibition Elegy, which runs from the 8th October 2026 to 17th January 2027.
Workshops will be held 2–5pm on the 24th October and 14th November. Doors open at 1.30pm.
An essential oil spray will be used at the beginning of the session. For access details, please consult the following webpage: https://ibraaz.org/visit-us, or include enquiries in your application.
