About Ibraaz Publishing

Ibraaz Publishing is dedicated to fostering new writing, interdisciplinary research, and artists’ projects that traverse generations, geographies, and disciplines. 

Building on the legacy of Ibraaz 1.0 (2011–17), which was originally conceived as a platform for visual culture in and around Southwest Asia and North Africa, this new chapter expands its scope to embrace a wider, interconnected global landscape. 

Ibraaz Publishing champions experimental forms of publishing that respond to the urgencies of our time: from the shifting terrains of politics, ecology, and technology to the evolving languages of art and resistance. 

Through essays, fiction, poetry, interviews, audio-visual thinking, and moving image, Ibraaz Publishing invites dialogue between thinkers, writers, and artists who challenge inherited narratives and open up new ways of seeing, knowing, and being in the world.

Between 2011–17, Ibraaz 1.0 published ten platforms that gathered responses to questions relevant to art and its wider geopolitical contexts. This October, we recommence the platform series with Platform 011.

A platform is a question-led research hub, lasting nine to twelve months, intended to create an open forum for critical inquiry and imaginative exchange. For each platform, artists, writers, and thinkers working in different geopolitical contexts and disciplines are invited to respond to a central framing question and series of prompts around a particular theme or issue.

We are currently in the process of migrating the first ten platforms of Ibraaz 1.0.
