The work\u003Ci> \u003C/i>draws attention to the determined local efforts to recover cultural heritage, while also highlighting the damage caused by the global illicit trade in antiquities. By making absence visible, the exhibition invites audiences to reflect on cultural erasure, collective memory and the systems that enable the displacement of heritage. \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Cassette tapes sourced in Lebanon, Armenia, and through community donations that trace the Armenian diaspora form the Analog Armenia archive. For the opening, recordings of folk songs, music, radio broadcasts, and spoken recordings are offered as a soundscape throughout the spaces of Ibraaz. He is considered one of the leading conceptual photographers of his generation. Spanning photography, moving image, sculpture, sound and installation, Sarkissian’s practice creates meditative dreamscapes in some moments; deathscapes in others—sites where the muted voice, absent from the frame, is temporarily offered space to breathe. \u003C/p>\u003Cp style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Selected recent solo exhibitions include Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen, Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht, Bonniers Kunsthal in Stockholm, Sharjah Art Foundation and Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas. Sarkissian also participated in the Aichi Triennale in Nagoya, the British Art Show 9, the 14th  Sharjah Biennial, the Brighton Photo Biennial, the Sursock Museum in Beirut, the Imperial War Museum in London, the Baltic Contemporary Art Centre in Newcastle, the 10th Bamako Encounters African Biennial of Photography, the Armenian Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennial (awarded the Golden Lion), Tate Modern in London, the New Museum in New York, and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. \u003C/p>\u003Cp style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Sarkissian is on the Advisory Board of the Arab Image Foundation in Beirut.\u003C/p>\u003Cp style=\"margin-left:0px;\">\u003Cstrong>Analog Armenia\u003C/strong> is an archival cassette project dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Armenian cassettes. The platform is an open-access digital archive that hosts a range of digitised recordings and written features related to Armenian music across the globe.
